ABOUT ME

DR. PAIGE HOVER
I am a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in Illinois and in New York. I love testing and all that it can provide! I love talking about testing, teaching others about testing and of course providing testing. The relief and clarity that clients experience after getting testing done is one of best parts of my job. I also enjoy forging relationships with my therapy clients and helping them see their potential, prioritize themselves and grow with the insight they develop in our work together.
A little bit more about me…I grew up in two stoplight town in Upstate New York (seriously, only 2 stoplights). I came to the big city of Chicago for graduate school and have been here ever since! I completed my doctorate degree at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2014. While completing my doctorate degree, I worked all over. I worked in forensic, hospital and residential addiction treatment settings working predominately with teens and adults. I was very passionate about working college and grad students, so I spent most of later my training years in university counseling centers. Working in college & university settings across the country, I continued to focus on testing & substance use treatment and also got to spend a lot of time working with the LGBTQA community. Most of my work with the clients in college/university focused on navigating the transitions of emerging adulthood (#adulting), understanding themselves and cultivating their identity, both professionally and personally. I helped many a person through a breakup and roommate issues, even though they all said they couldn’t believe they were spending their time in therapy talking about this. These same challenges plague young adults as they continue on past college and this is still the work that I most enjoy as a psychologist.
After finishing all my training in universities, I transitioned to private practice so I could continue working with the same population without the limitations of session limits and to spend time working with them beyond their time in college. I’ve been working in Chicago in private practice for the past 5 years. I have spent a great deal of time testing counseling college students, graduate students and young adult clients as they navigate stressors of adult life and professional life. During this time I have worked to help clients prioritize themselves, recognize their self-worth and achieve goals that they may once have thought were not possible.
I spend as much of my free time with my Australian Shepherd and yes I will talk about her whenever an opportunity presents itself. I soak up as many entrepreneur and/or woman-powered podcasts and books as I can. When I need to zone out, I will indulge in Bravo TV and cooking something delicious. I’m excited to meet you and help you on your journey!
